Rotraud Schneider has led the Orchestra since its inception.
Rotraud was born and educated in Germany where she graduated with Diplomas in Performing and Teaching from the University of Music in Munich. She also attained the Soloist Diploma at the Conservatorium of Music in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Rotraud performed with many leading orchestras in many countries before moving to Australia in 1981. Here she has given numerous performances and made many recordings, both with the Orpheus Quartet - which she leads - as well as other ensembles. She currently teaches at the Penrith Conservatorium of Music.
The Orchestra has been fortunate to have Rotraud as its leader. Its members have benefited greatly
from her expertise and dedication.
